The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development and Cerner Middle East, health care information technology (HIT) solution provider, have successfully delivered an ambulatory electronic health record (EHR). The Qatar Foundation Primary Health Care Center is the first health care organization in Qatar to successfully install Cerner Millennium.

Continuing to build on the country’s commitment to transform health care, Qatar Foundation Primary Health Care Center’s vision is to provide a range of primary health care medical and dental services to the Qatar Foundation community. Located in Education City, the newly constructed medical center has on site services for curative care, preventive care, radiology, clinical laboratory and dental services.

Sheikha Amal Al Thani, Health, Safety, Security & Environment Executive Director in Qatar Foundation, said: “We have been using the new EHR system for a few weeks now and are already reaping the benefits with approximately 80 percent paperless work, accurate medication list, immediately available charts and smooth registration of patient data. We are pleased with the support Cerner has provided us to deliver this successful implementation that meets our vision to be a world-class patient-centered and integrated primary health care center in Qatar.”

The Cerner® solutions implemented have automated physician and nursing workflows, along with laboratory, dental and administrative services. Clinicians at Qatar Foundation Primary Health Care Center are able to document care and place medication and other orders directly in the EMR.

“This is a significant milestone for Cerner to work with Qatar Foundation Primary Health Care Center as our first client in Qatar to implement our ambulatory EHR. This is the first of many other extensive client deployments that we will see in Qatar this year,” said Michael Pomerance, vice president and managing director, Cerner Middle East and Africa.

“This project demonstrates the shared vision of Qatar Foundation and Cerner to build a better future with health care that integrates data from all the health sources on one platform and lays the foundation for population health and wellness management in Qatar.”
