Systematic Books Major Order in Health and Care Services

SystematicSystematic has been chosen to deliver the new electronic citizen record for health and care services to the Municipality of Copenhagen. The two largest municipalities have thereby chosen Systematic to be the supplier of the IT platform and citizen record of the future within the primary care sector in Denmark.

The Municipality of Copenhagen has chosen Systematic A/S as its supplier of a new electronic citizen record that will support core tasks within health services, elderly care, etc.

“With the contract with the Municipality of Copenhagen, we take a defining step into the market of citizen records. We recently signed a contract with the Municipality of Aarhus, so with Copenhagen on board we now have two customers that in collaboration want to set new standards for the field. When combined, the two municipalities have more than 15,000 employees in the health and care sectors, and all of them are going to make use of our solution on a daily basis”, says Henrik Jespersen, Sales Vice President, Healthcare at Systematic.

Breaking with traditional solutions

Systematic is the choice of the Municipality of Copenhagen because the municipality assesses that it is the best solution for the job at hand. At the same time, the Municipality of Copenhagen is breaking with traditional solutions where the municipality is often bound to a single supplier.

It’s going to be easy to be a citizen, it’s going to be easy to be an employee, it’s going to be easy to optimise quality and efficiency, and we want the freedom to invite new innovative solutions from other suppliers to work alongside this main platform. All of this will be possible with the system from Systematic, and that secures us a strong platform for both innovation and quality assurance in the service we offer citizens.

She adds that the new citizen record system has to be flexible in order to be able to continuously adapt to changes and new regulations.

“Increased digitisation and smarter usage of IT systems are important factors to increasing efficiency which in turn is supposed to help budgets and tasks align. At the same time, our ability to solve tasks is dependent on well-functioning IT solutions. Qualities of stability, efficiency, performance and minimal number of errors have therefore been key factors in this decision making process”, explains Mette Harbo.

”One of the strengths about the chosen solution is its ability to scale on functionality by e.g. including solutions developed by other suppliers. This gives an interesting perspective on future development and it will benefit all of the municipalities in Denmark in different ways, depending on the individual municipality’s ambitions, no matter the size and work procedures of the municipality. New doors for collaboration between the municipalities regarding innovation and development are therefore completely open. And it opens doors for smaller suppliers as well”, says Mette Harbo.

Future-proof system

The Municipality of Copenhagen has had a wish to challenge the existing approach to collaboration with suppliers in order to future-proof the system, increase the quality, and ensure that the users of the system get an efficient, intuitive solution that makes a difference.

”We go for a solution that is beneficial to the budget of the municipality, to our resources, and last but not least to the individual citizen’s experience of the services they receive from the municipality. It is our goal to make the services better connected and more coordinated, and we expect the collaboration with Systematic to support that goal”, elaborates Mette Harbo.

Many resources have been spent on identifying the municipality’s needs and building an intuitive solution on this foundation.

“We have worked very purposefully to meet the challenges the municipalities of Denmark are facing with their current solutions and continuously incoming tasks. It has therefore been crucial for us to be able to offer the users of the system optimal support in their daily work via decision support and of course on mobile platforms”, explains Henrik Jespersen.

It is a stamp of approval of our platform and our agile ways of working – both as a company and with our customers – that such large and professional organisations chose us over more established suppliers in the market. Both of the municipalities in Aarhus and Copenhagen have shown us great trust and that obligates [us]. We look forward to accomplishing the job.

Intuitive design

For the employees of the municipality, the citizen record will make up the primary IT tool for planning and delivering the health and care services. At Systematic, the solution is called Columna Cura.

”Cura is being developed on the basis of making the work around and with citizens easier to document and get an overview of, while also making the coordination and communication across sectors more accessible and easy. At the same time, we have worked with a design that ensures users an intuitive solution which gives rather than takes resources from the employees and the municipalities”, explains Henrik Jespersen.

He adds that Systematic experiences great interest in the solutions that the company has developed for the health and care field, an interest that reaches beyond the borders of Denmark.

Systematic was also bidding for the IT Healthcare platform for the Capital Region of Copenhagen and the region of Zealand. This project was awarded to Epic with NNIT as a subcontractor.
