EG Launches Swedish Retail Offensive

In Building Successful Partner Channels, Entering Foreign Markets, Industry News

EG-ASEG (Denmark) is to buy IT consultants Medius Dynamics (Stockholm, Sweden), making it one of Sweden’s three largest Dynamics AX partners. The acquisition will reinforce EG’s position in the retail sector and forms part of the group’s Scandinavian growth strategy.

EG A/S is strengthening its position in the Swedish market with the acquisition of Swedish consultants Medius Dynamics. The purchase will make the Danish-owned group one of Sweden’s three largest Dynamics AX providers and reinforces its position as Scandinavia’s leading Dynamics AX partner. EG Sweden’s total annual turnover will reach SEK 300 million.

“Medius Dynamics is a perfect match with our existing business. We will now be able to meet all the needs of the retail sector, be it point-of-sale solutions at the clients’ premises or ERP down in the engine room. We are there for them all the way, including day-to-day operations where our hosting and infrastructure solutions will be relevant,” says Leif Vestergaard, CEO of EG A/S.

Medius Dynamics will be spun off from the Medius group, whose chairman Markus Gerdien says:

“We are selling Medius Dynamics in order to better focus on electronic invoicing solutions, where we are already a leading global player. I am also convinced that Medius Dynamics will accelerate its growth as part of EG, and that it will see increased value for its customers and improved development opportunities for its staff,” says Markus Gerdien.

Clear industry focus

Medius Dynamics’ solid retail expertise has been crucial to EG, whose trademark is industry focus. The acquisition comes one year after EG bought Swedish logistics and production specialist Tacticus.

EG Sweden CEO Stefan Fleron, who himself took over as chief executive after the Tacticus acquisition last year, says:

“Medius Dynamics’ clout and expertise perfectly matches EG in the retail segment. It means that we now have the most complete portfolio for this sector in the market. Our customers are looking for comprehensive solutions to their challenges. They include streamlining all steps of the value chain – from production to optimising the shop floor to integration with online stores.”

For customers the acquisition means improved availability. More than 40 Medius Dynamics staff will become part of EG Sweden, which already counts over 150 employees in locations such as Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.

Stefan Fleron adds:

“Our customers will see more consultants and a greater presence in the Swedish AX market. We will have a stronger position in the Stockholm region in particular. Medius Dynamics also has extensive production expertise, which is a good fit with last year’s Tacticus acquisition.”

Reinforced position in Scandinavia

For Leif Vestergaard, CEO of the EG group, the Swedish takeover reflects EG Sweden growth strategy:
